Key Information

Once you have created an iknowa account you will be navigated to your dashboard, where you are able to create and post new projects. Note: To post a project, click on the ‘Create Project’ tab in the left-hand banner.

When creating a project it’s important that you provide as many details as possible, as this will assist tradespeople in providing you with an accurate and informative quote. Below are suggestions for each section of the quoting process:

  • Project name - Create a project name that summarises your project. For example, ‘Bathroom renovation'
  • Required Skills - Select the skills you think are required for your job. For example, for a bathroom renovation, you would select ‘Bathroom Specialist'
  • Description - Provide as many details as possible about your project. For example ‘I am looking to replace the bath, shower, and basin in my bathroom. I have already purchased the bath, shower, and basin. I just need a tradesperson to remove the old fixtures and fit the new ones. I would prefer that the work commenced w/c 11th January
  • Postcode - Provide the postcode for the property, to get fast quotes from local tradespeople
  • Reference images - A picture speaks a thousand words, a video speaks a million. Therefore, if appropriate please provide images and videos of the work to be completed. For example, in our bathroom renovation, we would take pictures and videos of the current bathroom and the fixtures to be installed
  • Status - Let Tradespeople know how urgent your project is
  • Type - Let Tradespeople know the state of the project, whether it’s ready to go, planning, and budgeting, or for insurance purposes

We suggest considering the following factors:

  • Tradesperson’s portfolio – Have a look at the tradesperson’s portfolio to see their previous work. This will give you an idea if their style and quality meet’s your requirements
  • Tradesperson’s feedback – Read what others have said about the quality & professionalism of the tradesperson’s work
  • Quality of quote – Look into how detailed the tradesperson’s quote is and if they have comprehensively outlined the stages and tasks to be completed
  • Price – Consider the tradesperson that provides you with the best value. “Cheapest is not always the best”

Project funds are only released when you are happy with the quality of completed work and approve the payment. All funds are secured in an FCA approved escrow account, providing you with the assurance that your funds are kept safe.
