Hello and welcome to iknowa!
This article will walk you through setting up your account and give some best practice advice for perfecting each section.
Lets begin!
Once you’ve registered and confirmed your email address, you will need to login and navigate to the ‘account details’ page to start completing your profile.
Completing your profile is essential for verifying you on the platform. Also, the more information you give, the higher chance a project owner will select you for their job over your competitors.
Account status
After clicking on account details, you will land on the account status page. This shows where you are in completing your account.
If you have just created your profile then you will be at the ‘add details’ stage. You will reach the ‘submit details’ stage once you have filled in all stages and pressed ‘submit for verification’ on this page.
Once the iknowa team has been able to review your account, you will be at the ‘verifying’ stage until we either accept you, in which case you will be ‘verified’, or reject you, in which you will be given a reason for rejection along with a chance to rectify it.
To move onto the next stage, scroll down and click on ‘add details’.
Profile
This profile is one of the most important parts of your account as it’s where the project owner will come to learn more about you and your company.
Complete each section in as much detail as you can as this can help you stand out from the competition. If you are stuck with what to write in the profile description, we advise mentioning how long you have been in the industry for and what parts of the industry you cover.
Make sure you use a profile picture of yourself so the project owner knows who they are working with. Top tip, smile in your photo!
When you have finished completing the profile section, be sure you click ‘update’ before clicking save and continue.
Business details
Here you will need to enter your company information so we can verify your account. As this is needed to verify your account, we always recommend reviewing this section before submitting your profile for approval.
Just like before, make sure you click ‘update’ before ‘save and continue’.
Identification
The identification section is important as it allows us to know who we have registered on our platform. To complete the identity check, you will need to click on the button to start the process which will launch a pop-up from our partner ‘Jumio’.
Once ‘Jumio’ has launched, follow the instructions to complete your identity check.
Certification
Select any certificate types you have using the dropdown menu on screen. If you have a certificate that is not listed, please use the ‘other’ category. Or, if you do not need to upload any certificates then please select ‘not applicable’
Note: Your account may be rejected if you select a skill in the next stage but are unable to provide the required certification, so please upload all certificates you have.
Insurance
An active insurance policy is required to work on iknowa so upload any relevant documentation you have. If you do not have any documentation then you should request a copy from your insurance company.
Skills
The skills section is important so we can match jobs up to your capabilities. Please complete any skills that apply to you, and make sure you have the relevant certification if any is required by that skill set, eg a gas safety certificate for gas boiler work.
Once you’ve completed all of the sections and they’re ‘pending verification’, please click back onto ‘account status’ and press ‘submit for verification’. The iknowa team will then review your application and approve your account, or advise you on any gaps in your profile for rejected accounts.
Please note, this process may take up to 5 days.
Thank you for registering, and we can’t wait to have you onboard!
Common problems
- I cannot complete my verification check as I am not getting a pop-up
Some internet browsers have pop-up blockers built in. When you click on the button, you may see a popup icon appear in the top of the internet browser. Click on this and press allow pop-up. This will allow Jumio to appear.
- I go back to a stage and change some information, but when I hit ‘save and continue’, my updates do not save.
When updating some information, make sure you press the ‘update’ button when done before clicking ‘save and continue’.
